Explanation of Testing

|    Overview   |    Explaining the Process   |

Looking at your house with x-ray vision.
Consultants and contractors working with Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® perform industry tests like these to provide themselves with the ability to "see" the invisible-the drafts, the leaks, the problem areas in your home.

Blower door test.
Blower door test to measure how tight your home is, and find the leaky areas.

Combustion safety test.
Combustion safety test to ensure that your furnace or water heater is properly drafting and not producing carbon monoxide.

Exhaust ventilation test.
Exhaust ventilation test to ensure the system has the capacity to get rid of excess moisture.

Infrared camera scan.
Infrared camera scan to locate missing insulation behind walls.

Post improvement performance evaluation.
After work is completed to address recommendations, the consultant will return to re-test the house, or verify that the insulation, ventilation and air sealing work are complete and effective.
