Cash Back Incentive Eligibility
Focus on Energy incentives are available to qualifying residential customers of participating providers. Customers of a
participating electric provider will be eligible for electric technology incentives only. Customers of participating natural
gas providers will be eligible for gas savings technology incentives only. Customers who have both a participating electric
and gas provider will qualify for all technology incentives.
Purchase and install qualifying HVAC equipment from
a participating contractor and receive Cash-Back Reward incentives from Focus on Energy. Additional incentives may be

Only the Cash-Back Rewards listed on this application will be available for equipment installed August 31, 2008 unless otherwise noted.
Cash-Back Reward incentives are payable to the customer: incentives cannot be assigned to other parties.
An incentive application reward form must be submitted within 30 calendar days of installation.
A copy of the online incentive application confirmation and your contractor's invoice must be delivered within 15 days of
the application date. Invoice(s) submitted must include manufacturers' make, model and serial numbers for all equipment
on the Cash-Back Reward incentive application

Please retain a copy of this Cash-Back Reward summary for your records.
Once completed application materials are submitted, incentive payments are usually made within 30 calendar days. Incomplete
applications will either delay payment or be denied.
All equipment must be new: used or rebuilt equipment is not eligible for an incentive.
Equipment must meet efficiency levels and specification requirements and be installed prior to submitting and incentive
application form.
Random inspections may be conducted to verify installations.
Focus on Energy reserves the right to publicize your participation in the program, unless you specifically request otherwise.
Customers or allies may not use the Focus on Energy name or logo in any marketing, advertising or promotional material without
prior written permission.
Focus on Energy reserves the right to change or discontinue this program at any time. The acceptance of program applications
is determined solely by Focus on Energy.
Focus on Energy reserves the right to refuse payment and participation if the customer or contractor violates program rules
and procedures.
All projects are expected to comply with federal, state and local codes.

NATURAL GAS HOT WATER BOILER REWARD
Equipment must be installed March 1, 2008 or later
Customer must purchase natural gas from a participating natural gas utility to qualify for this reward.
Qualified model must have:
90% AFUE or greater
Modulating burner
Outdoor air reset control (if this control is not part of the installed unit, one can be added to the unit)
This incentive is only available for pre-qualified models; see the
Pre-Qualified Equipment List
for a list of approved units. If you plan to install a model that is not on the pre-qualified list, please submit an
Equipment Qualification Form
before installation to verify that the model meets program criteria.
GAS FURNACE REWARD
Customer must purchase electricity from a participating electric utility to qualify for this reward.
Qualified model must have:
90% AFUE or greater
2 stages of heat output
ECM/Variable speed motor (Two-speed and multi-speed furnaces are not eligible for the Gas Furnace Reward)
Equipment eligibility is based on the GAMA database (gamapower.org) and other reliable sources.
This incentive is only available for pre-qualified models; see the
Pre-Qualified Equipment List
for a list of approved units. If you plan to install a model that is not on the pre-qualified list, please submit an
Equipment Qualification Form
before installation to verify that the model meets program criteria.
Ground source/geothermal heat pumps may also be eligible for the $150 Gas Furnace Reward. See instructions below.
FLUE CLOSURE REWARD
Flue must be closed March 1, 2008 or later
Customer must purchase natural gas from a participating natural gas utility to qualify for this reward.
This reward is only available to customers who purchase and install a qualified Efficient Heating & Cooling furnace
or boiler.
Customers can only receive one Flue Closure Cash-Back Reward from Focus on Energy. Customers who receive the Flue
Closure reward from Efficient Heating & Cooling cannot receive an additional Flue Closure reward through the Water Heating
program or the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program.
Approved Flue Closure Protocol must be followed. Complete protocol instructions may be found at focusonenergy.com/hvac.
All interior flue openings of chimney must be properly sealed using metal plug and caulk or mortar.

A Focus on Energy representative may contact the homeowner to schedule a site visit to verify flue was properly closed.
CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONERS AND AIR SOURCE HEAT PUMPS - $100
Units must be installed with a furnace that qualifies for the Gas Furnace Cash-Back Reward (90% AFUE, 2 stages of heating, ECM).
Systems must be 15 SEER or higher (considering the condenser, evaporator coil, and furnace/air handler motor).
Systems must include a thermal expansion valve (TXV) or electronic expansion valve (EXV/EEV) to automatically adjust refrigerant flow through the system.
Both the evaporator and condenser coils must be replaced.
Proper airflow and refrigerant charge must be achieved on all A/C installations.
The refrigerant line diameters must meet the manufacturer specifications for the unit being installed.
MINI-SPLIT / DUCTLESS SYSTEMS - $100
Systems must be 15 SEER or higher.
Systems must include a thermal expansion valve (TXV) or electronic expansion valve (EXV/EEV) to automatically adjust refrigerant flow through the system.
Multiple indoor evaporator/air handling units must be installed to allow zoning. Indoor units may be connected to one or multiple condensers. Rewards will be paid based on the number of condensers installed.
Both the evaporator and condenser coils must be replaced.
GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMPS
These systems are eligible for the following rewards if they meet the specified requirements.
$100 Air Conditioner Reward
System must be 15 EER or higher
$150 Furnace Reward
System must have a minimum COP of 3.3 for a closed loop or a COP 3.6 for an open loop system
Heat pumps must have at least 2 stages of heat output. Second stage cannot be electric heating (i.e. plenum heaters or electric resistance heating cannot be included as backup heat or auxiliary heat.)
