ENERGY STAR® Appliances FAQs

Q: How can I tell if something is ENERGY STAR® qualified?

A: The easiest way is to look at the package the product comes in. For example, compact fluorescent bulbs are always labeled with the ENERGY STAR symbol. However, when you are looking at bigger items such as appliances, sometimes the packaging is in the storage area of the store, and the label is not on the display model. If this is the case, you should ask the sales clerk to look at the packaging for you.

Q: I just purchased a refrigerator. Do I qualify for any incentives?
A: We offer Cash-Back Rewards on an assortment of ENERGY STAR qualified products. The products are from various manufacturers, and you must purchase the exact model number listed during the promotion. Each promotion has its own start date and expiration date. Click below to see the current listing of Cash-Back Rewards on appliances.

Q: Why aren't ovens ENERGY STAR qualified?
A: When you turn an oven on, it has to heat all those pounds of steel plus the air in the oven before it even begins to heat the food. This means that there is a great deal of energy wasted before the oven starts doing its job. Currently, there is no way to make ovens energy-efficient.

Q: What about ovens and other appliances not qualified by ENERGY STAR?
A: Even though only a few appliances can qualify as ENERGY STAR, consider energy efficiency when purchasing any appliance. The U.S. Department of Energy offers guidelines and tips on purchasing clothes dryers, ovens, ranges, and water heaters. Also, be sure to read the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) EnergyGuide to "How to Buy an Energy-Efficient Home Appliance" for general information about shopping for an energy-efficient appliance.

Q: I just bought an ENERGY STAR qualified television. Can I get any reward for this?
A: We do not have any Cash-Back Rewards on home electronics at this time.
