Cash Back Incentive Eligibility

Focus on Energy incentives are available to qualifying residential customers of participating providers. Customers of a participating electric provider will be eligible for electric technology incentives only. Customers of participating natural gas providers will be eligible for gas savings technology incentives only. Customers who have both a participating electric and gas provider will qualify for all technology incentives.

Purchase and install qualifying HVAC equipment from a participating contractor and receive Cash-Back Reward incentives from Focus on Energy. Additional incentives may be available for projects for businesses. To learn more, call Focus on Energy at 800.762.7077.

Refer to the Efficient Heating & Cooling Program Guide to review all eligibility requirements.

Contractor Instructions
  • 90+ AFUE Modulating Boilers: natural gas customers only are eligible for this incentive
  • 90+ AFUE Modulating Boilers and 90+ AFUE Furnaces with ECM:
    1. These incentives are only available for pre-qualified models: see the pre-qualified equipment list in the Efficient Heating and Cooling Program Guide.
    2. If you plan to install a model that is not on the pre-qualified list, please submit an Equipment Qualification Form before installation to verify that the model meets program criteria.
    3. Chimney liners must be installed where a high efficiency natural gas furnace or boiler replaces atmospherically-drafted equipment that was vented through the same flue as a gas water heater.
    4. Flue closure protocol must be followed where a high efficiency furnace or boiler is installed and the chimney is no longer in use (i.e. by a gas water heater). See the Flue Closure Protocol in the Program Guide for additional information.

  • Central Air Conditioning Systems (SEER 14, 15 or 16+):
    1. Check the appropriate SEER level and complete the equipment and installation information.
    2. The condenser model and serial number, evaporator model and serial number, and ARI (Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute) reference number are required for all installations.
    3. System efficiency is based solely on the evaporator and condenser coils: the SEER may not be increased by factoring in the efficiency of a variable speed forced air heating system fan, except where a two-stage air conditioner is installed.
    4. All efficiency ratings will be verified using the ARI database
    5. Both the condenser and evaporator coils must be replaced.
    6. Charge and airflow data must be submitted for all equipment installed between May 15 and September 15. See Refrigerant Charge & Airflow Instructions in the Program Guide for additional information.
